For sale: 2006 Ford GT - SOLD!

Not many people are used to associating Ford with the word 'exotic'. But all that changed in 2003 when Ford released a road-going iteration of its famed, Ferrari-beating racecar, the Ford GT40. Over the course of three years, Ford made only 4,038 GTs - half the total production run of Ferrari's 360 Modena, making it twice as rare.

In the '60s, the GT40 was named so because the roof was a mere 40 inches from the ground. This new GT was almost named the GT43 because, you guessed it, it's only three inches taller than its decades-ago racetrack predecessor. The new Ford is also wider. The beautiful example we have profiled on our showroom floor was built in January, 2006; one of only 157 built that month, and one of only 1,601 produced that year.

Not only is the Ford GT rarer than some of Ferrari's contemporary lineup, it also blows them away. With a 5.4 liter V8 engine, coupled with a supercharger, DOHC, and four valves per cylinder, the GT is putting out 550 horsepower, 500 ft. lbs. of torque and going from naught to 60 in the same time as an Enzo: 3.3 seconds. For sale: 2002 BMW Z8 - SOLD...!!!...

In 1997, BMW, (Bayerische Motoren Werke AG - Bavarian Motor Works) debuted its Z07 concept car at the Tokyo Auto Show. The Z07 was a design exercise meant to celebrate the BMW 507 of the late '50s. The concept caused a commotion and it became an instant hit. Because of this, BMW decided to make a limited production run of roadsters from 2000 through 2003. They called it the Z8.

The one on our showroom floor is black with beautiful tan leather, and only 11,671 miles. The removable hard top takes this roadster to the next level of open air motoring. Throwing the shifter through the six speeds while the wind is in your hair, taking tight corners with ease, and generally driving until you giggle is what defines the Z8. It's a car you can drive everyday; to work, to school, to get groceries ...in another state. It is fun, personified.

An all-aluminum chassis and body house a 32-valve V8 that's putting out 400 horsepower and 363 ft. lbs. of torque. Tucked behind the front axle, the engine's placement provide the car with 50/50 weight distribution, making it sublimely balanced. Zero to 60 in 4.2 seconds isn't too shabby either.

For sale: 2005 Mercedes Benz SL55 AMG - SOLD...!!!

It's that time of the year, ladies and gentlemen. Good weather is upon us. The sun is shining, the temperature has risen from the frigid depths of frosty numbers, the roads are warm and dry and it's time go motoring. So you're cruising down the freeway - or, perhaps, you're zooming through the twisties on some scenic mountain road. The constant rise and fall of the engine's rev is coupled only by the wind rushing past your ears, and that fwoom sound that you hear when you fly by stationary objects on the side of the road, like trees. Your hair is river-dancing on your head as you aim the steering wheel for the next apex in the road, clip it, and barrel toward the next one. Your foot never touches the brake; it only feathers the throttle in and out of a high RPM range as you carve up the countryside.

But none of that's happening if you're not in a beautiful convertible sports car, tucked into a plush leather cockpit, surrounded by precision performance and handling accoutrement. Liveried in a striking yellow with gray leather interior, the 2005 SL55 AMG is the only Mercedes currently on our showroom floor. And with good reason: not too many of these babies come up for sale. Mercedes' SL series is not new to the sports car scene, and its AMG ties are no joke either. A little history, if you will...

The SL designation comes from the German Sport Leicht, or Sport Light, and was first introduced with the 1954 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing. The SL class refers to numerous engine configurations spanning five generations. In 2005, the SL55 AMG came with an automatic transmission but has manual shift buttons, Sensotronic brakes with eight-piston front calipers, AMG's active body control suspension, and a supercharged, 5.5 liter, 24-valve V8 engine putting out 497 horsepower. No, I'm not kidding!

AMG, an engine production and development company, was founded in 1967 by former Mercedes engineers Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, in a town near Stuttgart, called Großaspach. That's how the company got its name: Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach. In 1998, Mercedes-Benz acquired majority interest in AMG, and now, AMG is the high performance division for MB.

The history of the convertible is best left for another blog. But when you combine open air motoring with Mercedes' SL class, and throw in some AMG performance, you've got a classy, comfortable car that's going to yield more fun than you can imagine. Fact: To increase competitiveness in the SCCA Trans Am Racing Series, a four-wheel disc brake option, RPO JL8, was made available only during 1969. This sytem employed the four-piston brake components from Chevrolet's Corvette, subsequently making a major improvement in the braking capability, and was a key to winning the Trans Am Championship.

Fact: Of the 243,085 Camaros produced by Chevrolet in 1969, only 20,302 were Z28s, nearly half of SS models and RS models made that year, respectively.

The 1969 Chevrolet Camara Z28 is an American icon.
