With the nice weather here to stay, Universal Autosports made the season’s first trek to New Jersey Motor Sports Park. It wasn’t difficult to round up a group of clients who wanted to go racing, so once we filled our slots, we loaded up the trailer and headed south. The weather held out and we had a great weekend where a lot of time was spent on the track. While all of the cars raced without any complications, Universal’s tech team was on hand for ‘what-if’ mishaps as well as routine issues like tire changes and maintenance.
The armada of cars for this trip included two 360 Challenge cars, a Nissan GT-R, two Corvettes (one of which was a ZR1), a Mustang, two Porsches, a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo and a Panoz. The broad display of power and performance from this smorgasbord of sports cars made for a very interesting weekend. Drivers and onlookers alike reveled in the stimulation provided by their respective perspectives. Breaks were amply catered with snacks and camaraderie.

If drivers wanted a change of venue – and if spectators wanted to drive – the go-kart track was open and ready for some smaller cc competition. Whether for practice or for pride, go-kart racers couldn’t stop smiling during their foray into nailing apexes at such a low center of gravity. But it didn’t matter where you were at New Jersey Motor Sports Park – if you were there, you were having a good time. The return to New York on Sunday brought reality back into focus – but only for a little while. Because we’re already planning our next trip to the track, and we hope you’ll join us.
